Rembrandt Peale (American Neoclassical Painter, 1778-1860] Peale is best known for his portraits of such prominent Americans as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Rembrandt Peale was born on George Washington's birthday in the middle of the American Revolution. He studied under his father, Charles Willson Peale. In July of 1787, Rembrandt stood behind his father as he painted a portrait of George Washington.
